"Seeing the world as it isn't"

IdeaFestival 2011 participant and experimental psychologist Daniel Simons mentions anamorphic street artist Julian Beever in this talk about perception, and, with a couple of effective examples, makes the point that our visual perception is much narrower than we think. As he points out, "we share the illusion that we see the world as everyone else" - and that's about it.

Simons is the co-author of "The Invisible Gorilla."

Julian, by the way, did this drawing at the 2009 IdeaFestival.
