Jalyn Shontee is a senior Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Louisville’s J.B. Speed School of Engineering and is also a Brown Fellow Scholar at the university. She serves as the Pre-College Initiative Chair and Programs Chair for the National Society of Black Engineers chapter at the University of Louisville. As a part of her passion for education, Jalyn initiated Girls to Engineers, a math and science summer camp for minority girls, in 2014. She has also completed three co-op rotations at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah, Ga and plans to get her Masters of Mechanical Engineering degree following graduation. Jalyn was a recipient of the ASME Pi Tau Sigma award in the 2015 spring semester and is currently on the Dean’s List.
