One of Freeman Hrabowski’s Meyerhoff Scholars, Dr. Angelique Johnson received her Bachelors degrees from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She went one to earn a PhD in Electrical Engineering from The University of Michigan. She creates micro-fabricated nerve stimulator leads that can be used to treat hearing loss, Parkinson’s disease, paralysis and blindness. Her work has been patented internationally, and featured on the cover of Hearing Research. Passionate about people as well as engineering, Dr. Johnson has led many outreach programs to promote STEM fields among underrepresented minorities and women.
