"The Mind's Provisions"
Thanks to a mention in AlphaPsy, I've picked up Vincent Descombes', The Mind's Provisions: a Critique of Cognitivism. The book argues for a location of the mind and meaning outside our heads, which departs from the physical monism and causality characteristic of most philosophy of consciousness in the analytic tradition.
I've found the book relatively easy going in the first couple of dozen pages and will pass along some of what I find in later posts.
