Profit, purpose

Harvard Business Review has published "Cocreating Business's New Social Compact," an update, according to World Resources Institute NextBillion.net, to University of Michigan professor CK Prahalad's work on "fortune at the bottom of the pyramid."

The article is walled off to subscribers only (NextBillion.net promises a review), but the abstract posted at HBR says that business and NGOs are moving beyond initial distrust and learning to cooperate with each other. One brings global business expertise and muscle to the table, the other, a knowledge of local conditions, norms and markets.
