Cory Doctorow: these digital times a "parable of complex systems"
On his blog Lunch over IP, Bruno Giuassani - thanks, Bruno - recently linked to this interview with Cory Doctorow, which I found interesting. As a technologist and science fiction writer, he often has an evocative take on the here and now.
His views, for example, on the collision of the business of creativity with technology strikes me as pretty accurate - businesses built on "bit scarcity" are in trouble - and he supplements it with a bit of history about professional writing, something with which he's familiar. It's always been a pauper's trade.
He also sees spam and bot wars as "parables of complex systems," a turn of phrase that really appeals to me because it provides another vantage point from which to view, to understand, technology.
