Perceptual training: hacking "field sense"

Part perceptual ability, part magic thinking, can "field sense" of the kind exhibited by great athletes like Wayne Gretsky and Pelé be learned? Aussie sports researcher, Damian Farrow, thinks so. He has set about deconstructing perception in order to successfully teach it. Wired:
