KySat accepting applications for mission team

Alan Boyle at Cosmic Log links to just released Cassini radar imagery, which show the presence of longitudinal dunes on Titan's surface. See Cosmic Log for a better look.

If, like me, you enjoy space related news - or you just never forgot the fun you had with model rocketry - you may be interested in the Kentucky Satellite (KySat) project, a new, hands-on initiative for Kentucky students. KySat is a public-private enterprise to design, build, launch and fly small satellites, with the goal of promoting space, engineering and science education in the commonwealth.

Announced here last May, the project is currently in its second round of applications to place students on the mission team

Over time I hope to enlist the first person perspective of the people involved in this exciting project, including the students, on the KySat blog, which I have been charged with editing. There should be plenty of news on private space initiatives, competition and astronomy as well.

You're invited to stop by.
