Design sight, sixth sense

There have been a some good posts lately from Functioning Form on the ways design schools the imagination, on the ways it knows.

Luke Wroblewski says design comes in threes. Two of its roles are problem solving and communicating. He also posts an interview on the ethnography of design, which involves the patience to discover.

My thought on design-as-epistemology: as a method for discovery, design is observing and seeing. Following up with the breakthrough question is design sight.
