CPH127 asks whether design and business are fundamentally incompatible. It's something I've wondered about, too, given the focus on measurement and process in large businesses. Though not addressing the issue raised at CPH127, Rob at BusinessPundit suggests that perhaps the key is in finding something new to measure, which would seem to require some design thinking to identify opportunities.
Constant measurement is reactive, while design thinking is, at bottom,
a creative process. The former will mitigate risk at the cost of
breakthroughs; the other will provide breakthroughs at greater risk to
existing practices. It seems to me that "positive uncertainty" strikes an appropriate balance and is a kind of design thinking.
